Benjamin Marshall Lawson, known by his internet personality Marshall Law by his fans, is a famous ViewTuber and the deuteragonist of the Let's Play series. Well known through his Let's Play channel Lawman, he was unknowingly Sam Young's biggest inspiration before his original Ruminate video. Despite his exuberant and cheerful exterior he is shown multiple times to be dealing inwardly with depression which he does not often share with others, even those closest to him.
History[]
Marshall's childhood was rather stressful as his father was a strict authoritative parent who pressured his children with high expectations. When Marshall was a teenager he began his own ViewTube channel called Lawman and became a video game reviewer, that has grown into one of the most popular game reviewing channels.
Marshall originally attended law school and a member of his father's fraternity on his fathers orders, but dropped out after finally having had enough of his father's controlling behavior. Marshall was arrested at some point for assaulting a man who was attempting to date rape a woman, though the charges were dropped after the police investigated the incident. For a time Marshall was abusing alcohol to cope with his depression but put himself into rehabilitation and has been sober for a year.
Over the years, Marshall's ViewTube channel grew into one of the most popular channels allowing Marshall to make a living as a professional gamer and reviewer. As his fame grew Marshall's fans would become increasingly obsessive and would even stalk Marshall, causing him to move frequently.
One year at a ViewTube after party Marshall attended he met and had a sexual encounter with famous beauty vlogger Monica McKenzie who became his girlfriend shortly after, though he asked to keep their relationship a secret so as to avoid public backlash.
Personality[]
Despite spending most of his time playing video games, Marshall is very physically active, claiming that he'd get quite the pudge if he didn't work out. He is shown to be insecure about the size of his feet.[1] He also claims that he has a soft spot for cute pets like Bowser, Sam's dog.[2]
Physical appearance[]
Marshall is of Japanese decent, with tan skin black eyes and short messy shoulder length black hair, though he originally sported a mullet. He is very tall and imposing, being over 6 feet tall and a muscular build. He also has very large feet that he is self conscious of. He is usually seen wearing casual clothes such as T-Shirts and jeans though will occasionally sport either a designer hoody or beanie.

- Monica McKenzie (previous): Marshall's ex-girlfriend and a fellow ViewTuber who met at gathering for ViewTubers and after spending the night together agree to keep seeing each other. The two originally started out as friends with benefits though over time they became closer to the point where Monica wanted to try a real relationship with Marshall. Though Marshall accepted her feelings he asked to keep their relationship a secret to avoid fan backlash, which Monica is uncomfortable with. She cares deeply for Marshall, which Marshall reciprocates, though he is not entirely honest with and is afraid of opening up to her about his struggle with depression out of fear that she'll reject him. Believing they need some time apart and so he can be more honest with her, Monica believes it's best to take a break and start over as friends so that Marshall doesn't feel pressured or the need to hide anything from her.[3] Marshall, though sad over their situation, does feel relief that he doesn't have to hide anything from her.

- Sam Young: Marshall's neighbor who is initially hostile towards him due to his fan's sabotaging Ruminate. Despite their rocky interactions at first, Marshall and Sam slowly grow to be friends, the two of them having much in common. Marshall has a lot of respect for Sam, and wishes greatly to make amends for what his fans did to Ruminate. He is horrified when he realizes that not only is Sam one of his longest and biggest fans but that her game Ruminate was dedicated to him. Later he admits to now being a fan of Sam's work and is excited to see what other games she makes.
Family[]
- James Lawson: James is Marshall's estranged father. Marshall was intimidated by his father growing up and was forced to live his life the way James planned for him. The two are not on speaking terms.
- Yuko Lawson: Yuko is Marshall's mother who Marshall is the closest to in his family. Yuko was the most supportive of Marshall's dreams and would often encourage him to pursue whatever goals he wanted. In adulthood they are still very affectionate to each other.
- Eva Lawson: Marshall's older sister. Though they seem awkward when it comes to family affairs, they do care for each other greatly.
